Yesterday, Waterstones on Gower street hosted an evening with Grace Victory to launch her first book ‘No Filter’. I’ve been following Grace Victory for many years and can confidently say that I was one of her first subscribers when her YouTube channel was previously called ‘Ugly Face of Beauty’. When she announced that she was writing a book I knew I had to cop that shit.
The evening albeit brief was entertaining and very lovely. We took away a copy of the book and had the choice of a variety of body mists provided by the Being Sanctuary plus a cheeky glass of wine (those bad boys could have been filled to the brim though).
Grace was interviewed by Bethany Runner (soon to be published author). As always Grace was vibrant, full of personality and honest. I learnt that whilst the book was fun to write there were many dark parts which were very difficult to write, and I can only imagine, having to open up about sexual assault and domestic violence.
I started reading the book on my train journey home and with an attention span like mine I’m quite surprised that I haven’t already put it down. The candid story telling is refreshing and much like me I’m loving the over share! Empowered women really do empower women. This is a book I could have definitely used years ago when my perception of life was what I saw on Instagram, drooling over other people’s highlight reels. These days I’m content to love my body for the powerful things that it does. ‘You’re more than what you look like ‘- Grace Victory
I was so gassed to end the night with Grace’s signature in my book and a picture, the melanin is popping bitch!
And of course, no evening out is complete without elderflower infused prosecco and a vegan pizza form Pizza Express, now is it?
