If you’ve seen what my eyebrows look like AFTER I’ve ‘done’ them, then it’s easy to surmise that I’m not surgeon or doctor- precision just isn’t my forte. Needless to say, if you do suffer with serious skin problems don’t take these tips as gospel, but of course if these do end up working for you please shout it from the roof tops, tell them Helen’s got the juice. Hold your breath no more here are my top tips for achieving clearer skin.
MIND YOUR BUSINESS:
I know girl, minding my business can be tough for me too. We live in a nosy world, that coupled with the fact that some of us love to overshare it can be easy to assume that everyone’s business is YOUR business. I’ve found that minding my own business means I go to bed earlier, I’m not constantly scrolling through Instagram trying to see if Ade (fictional, I assure you) still has a picture up with his baby mama from 98 weeks ago. The bonus to that is I sleep well and my cells rejuvenate themselves. Notice how a night of intense gossiping can leave you looking tired and your skin feeling ashy and dull? Yea you don’t want that. Switch you phone off and watch your skin flourish.
You like wine? Me too, when I’m not drinking for pleasure I’m drowning my sorrows or swigging back cocktails in attempts to feel more confident than I actually do. Replacing other beverages with the much needed H2o our bodies need to function means your skin is hydrated and feeling supple. Toxins are eliminated from your body and pesky spots don’t find breeding ground in your pores.
DUMP THE FELLA/LASS WHO IS MAKING YOU UNHAPPY:
Have you seen an unhappy person with great skin before? Okay so you have (show off) they probably just have good genes or whatever. One great tip for getting all your Instagram comments to turn into ‘yassss your skinnnnn’ is to release yourself of toxic relationships. When you’re stressed out your cortisol levels rise and that can hinder weight loss attempts or make you gain weight, if that’s not what you’re after then of course that will in turn make you stressed out and your skin will bear the brunt of your spirit’s aggression. When you say adios to people who don’t value you, your worth or your fucking time, you find that you feel better. The money you would have spent on dates trying to ‘audition’ for someone’s love and affection could go towards buying lovely natural organic products for your skin. A win for your heart a win for your skin.
POSITIVE WORDS OF AFFIRMATION:
‘Hi my name is Helen, and I’m lit’ On days when anxiety has me gripped in a tight embrace, I can admit I’m unable to utter these words freely but alas! When I feel better, I look myself in the mirror and I proclaim loudly that I have a fat ass and bright future. Everything is right with the world and my skin. It may seem silly at first but words carry weight and they carry power. Tell your skin it’s glowing and shining just like your future and watch your ‘thought become things’. Speak power into your life!
